You Are Loved That Is All

While I’m waiting for one of my projects to dry, thought I’d play along in a couple of challenges. There’s a lot of shimmer on this that my camera does not show in the larger picture…so here’s a close up:

This is a stencil monoprint made with Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls.  I wanted an aged copper feel, so that’s how I chose the colors to work with.  Easy-peasy, quick as a wink card.  Added a bit of Copper Inka Gold around the edges and a few drips of Copper Perfect Pearls Mist.  And, of course, my usual smattering of sequins.

Not familiar with the stencil monoprint technique?  Here’s a video tutorial that I did last year.

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  watercolor and Neenah Solar White
Ink:  Distress and Versafine
Stamps:  WPlus9 That Is All
All the other stuff:  TCW 630S Mini Chickadee Post stencil, MFT Wonky Rectangles die, Perfect Copper Perfect Pearls Mist, Copper Inka Gold, misc. sequins

In the Pink

Having a play day today!  Wanted something bright and cheery as we are about to get upwards of 5 cm. of snow.  Mother Nature’s way of reminding us that while the calendar says spring…it’s just not quite here yet 🙂

Another card for the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, as well as a couple of other challenges…

My background was made by adding Versamark through my stencil and then heat embossing in white.  Then I added three colors of Distress Ink to my craft mat, spritzed them with water and dragged my watercolor paper through it.  Once it was dry, I added some gold mica paste through a different stencil.
More heat embossing for the sweet little coffee cup and sentiment…this time in gold.  Yes, I know, I’m still on that gold kick!  A bit of gold cording and a smattering of sequins and done!
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  watercolor, vellum and Neenah Solar White
Ink:  Distress and Versamark
Stamps:  Verve Coffee Helps
All the other stuff:  Verve Cup for All Seasons die set, TCW stencils, white embossing powder, gold embossing powder, gold cording, gold mica paste, sequins, adhesives

Today is Full of Possibilities

Just playing around with a new TCW stencil I recently purchased.  I believe I just may be a “stencilaholic” if there is such a term…LOL

I reversed the stencil so that I could add the sentiment sticker in the lower right corner.  Just stenciled with some light modeling paste and waited for it to dry.  I like working with the light modeling paste because it dries quicker and I’m impatient 🙂

Then I got out my Twinkling H20s and dabbed on some color through the stencil.  And, once that was dry, I added some shading with a Stabilo pencil and a water brush.  There’s a bit of soft sparkle from the H20s that doesn’t really show up in my picture.  The sentiment sticker is from Tim Holtz.

Quite simple to do really and I love the look!

Hip Hop Bunnies Bunny Hop Die Set
Welcome Plain Jane

Had lots of fun creating this mixed media Easter card 🙂   I’ve used the Viva la Verve sketch for this week.
The background is a stencil monoprint created with a stencil and three shades of Distress Inks.  If you’ve never tried this quick and easy way to make a background, here’s my tutorial.  Then I mixed up some fiber paste and ink and stenciled a piece of vellum.   The vellum piece was machine stitched to my background. A little square of turquoise  paper was embossed with the same stencil as was used in the background for even more texture.
Don’t you just adore this bunny?  hehehe  There are two more darling bunnies in this set 🙂 It has been die cut with the coordinating die from the Bunny Hop Die Set and colored with Copics.  The same goes for the little bow ties around the card.  And for the sentiment, just a quick little shaker design filled with pretty, sparkly stuff.
Your next stop on the hop is Mackie…enjoy!  Here’s the complete list if you’ve gotten lost along the way.  Don’t want you to miss out on the fabulous prizes!

#Beautiful

I’m sharing a card I recently made for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges at Splitcoaststampers. It’s an annual card drive where stampers/card artists make cards to send to the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  This is the sixth year for the card drive.

This is  one of my favorite techniques to add color to a card.  I’ve used the stencil monoprint technique.  I’ve inked up my stencil with three shades of Distress Ink and misted the stencil before placing it on my watercolor paper.  Then I added some droplets of Prima Color Bloom before sponging on a bit more color.

Virginia’s View Challenge #19:

MIX118 Fabulous You

Playing along with the mixed media challenge over at Splitcoaststampers today.  MariLynn has a smash technique to share there.

I placed three shades of distress inks on a folded piece of acetate and misted it with Perfect Pearls to create my “smash” background.  Once that was dry, I inked through as stencil with the same distress inks, and then moved it and inked through it again with archival ink.  Then I spritzed it with water and let some of the inks run again.

Next, I inked up the little tag with distress inks and stamped the sentiment.  It’s been adhered to the card with two strips of washi tape and a brad.

There is a soft shimmer from the Perfect Pearls that didn’t pick up on the camera. Please use your imagination 🙂

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Strathmore 140# watercolor paper and SU!
Ink:  Scattered Straw, Picked Raspberry, Bundled Sage, and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks;  MFT black hybrid ink; and Tree Branch Archival Ink
Stamps:  STAMPlorations The Bee’s Knees City Girl
All the other stuff:  tag, bad, washi, TCW stencil, sponges, water mister, acetate, Perfect Pearls

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #8 Reminder

Just a quick reminder that there’s still time to play along with us at the One Layer Christmas card challenge:

All the challenges are “anything goes”, and require a one layer design.  And, the optional twist with this challenge is “trees”.  Using the optional twist will get you an entry into the monthly random drawing.  Every card that you enter with the twist = 1 entry into the drawing and you can enter as many times as you’d like!

And here’s my one layer design featuring trees:

I’ve opted for some soft pastels this time around and used one of my favorite techniques – a stencil monoprint.  My stencil has been inked with three shades of Distress Inks, misted with water and placed on some watercolor paper.  After stamping the sentiment, I then added the snow.  Now, I’ve taken some serious artistic liberty with this snow, but if Prince can have “Purple Rain”, then I think I can have “Lilac Snow”.  LOL

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Strathmore 140# watercolor
Ink:  Aquamarine Archival Ink and Tumbled Glass, Shabby Shutters and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks
Stamps:  Verve Merry Wishes
All the other stuff:  TCW stencil, Simon Says Stamp stencil, Liquitex Blended Fibers, spatula
