Tim’s Tag December 2015

My last Tim’s Tag of 2015…where did the year go?

Here’s Tim’s amazing tag for December:

12 tags of 2015 - December | www.timholtz.com
And mine looks nothing like it ūüôā ¬†I was inspired to use some old and some new Tim’s stuff. ¬†No burlap left in my stash so stamped a textured background to simulate burlap and then stenciled the background with his Hollybough stencil. ¬†
Made the poinsettia with his Tattered Poinsettia die and added texture with his Bubble Wrap embossing folder. ¬†Used some Multi Medium Matte with Distress Stickles Dry Glitter to add a bit of sparkle. ¬†Used the “25” from his Plaquettes and added some Yuletide Fasteners to it and the Linen Ribbon. ¬†Lots of old Idea-ology products make up with tassel under the poinsettia. ¬†My sentiment is one of the Christmastime Flashcards that’s been inked up a bit. ¬†Also, you’ll see a piece from the Festive Ephemera Pack down the right side. ¬†Whew! ¬†That’s a lot of Tim stuff!
Had a blast making my tag and hope to do all 12 in 2016!

Stencil Sunday Funky Fa La La Tag

Hello, creative lovelies! ¬†I’m back with another Stencil Sunday project! ¬†And, since I’m still working on my Christmas tags that’s my focus for today ūüôā

Would love to have you¬†join us for the challenge this month.¬†¬†As always, it’s an anything goes challenge that must be a mixed media piece…tags, art journal pages, home decor, etc….anything but a card. ¬†The winner will receive a $15 STAMPlorations gift certificate or 2 ARTplorations stencils. And the top picks receive an ARTplorations stencil of their choice.

I started out by sponging some white craft ink through the ARTplorations Christmas Trees stencil and when that was dry, I added more color with silver and gold markers. ¬†The star is from Oh My Stars! and I just used the gold marker for that. ¬†The edges were lightly sponged with white ink and then I added a border with the gold marker. ¬†The snowy look was created with the edge of a spatula and the white craft ink. ¬†There’s more gold marker on the seam binding. ¬†The tag was completed with a sentiment from the STAMPlorations Joyful stamp set.

More inspiration can be found right here.

Tim’s Tag November 2015

My take on Tim’s November tag. ¬†Lots of wonderful ideas again, from THE man this month ūüôā ¬†I love the textured background he created!

TAG-PINTEREST
The background on my tag was made in similar fashion. ¬†You’ll find all his instructions at the above link. ¬†I created the background with some Distress Paint and the Weathered Textiles stamp. Next came some added color with Distress Sprays. ¬†I stamped one of the background stamps from French Marketplace and quickly rubbed it with a cloth to smudge it slightly for an aged effect. ¬†The edges of the tag were inked with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and then per his instructions I added some Transfer Foil.
The leaf was made with Craft Core Metallic paper and the Layered Leaf set which includes an embossing folder.  Added some shades of alcohol ink and also distressed it with my sanding block. Then it was scrunched up in my hand for more texture.  I  added a bit of the Transfer Foil to it also.
For the final touches, a few stickers from his Small Talk collection and a bit of his Linen Ribbon. Not totally satisfied with my picture. ¬†One of these days, I’m going to take a photography class!

Twelve Tags of Christmas with Loll & Friends 2015

Welcome to Day 8 of the Twelve Tags of Christmas with Loll & Friends! ¬†Loll is such a talented designer and such a sweet person and I feel blessed to call her friend. ¬†This is the second year for Loll’s tag event with 25 guest designers sharing some mixed media inspiration. ¬†If you haven’t been following along with all the tags to this point…check them out here. ¬†And there are prizes…yes prizes! Hope you can find some time to enter!

I likely should have called this tag “go big or go home”. ¬†The base tag is a #12 tag (that’s 5 1/8″ x 10 1/2″). ¬†Someone’s going to get a very large gift this year *grin*.

The tag was covered in some Prima designer paper and the edges were distressed. ¬†Then I added some gold embossing paste through a Prima stencil. ¬†The next size tag was treated in the same manner. ¬†Once everything was dry, I started putting it all together, ¬†again lots of Prima products here…flowers, trim, Finnabair Mechanicals, little tags etc. ¬†Then I added some splatters of Prima Color Bloom in two different shades. ¬†Micro beads and mica flakes were added randomly for even more shine/bling. ¬†I’ve dyed some cheesecloth and some seam binding for the top of the tag and also added a little metal star for the finishing touch.

Here are a few close-ups to show some of the detail:

Loll, thank you so much for inviting me to your fun tag event…I’m honored to be among all the amazing designers you’ve chosen!

Stencil Sunday Christmas Tag

Hello, creative lovelies!  Time for another Stencil Sunday project!

Looking for a quick and easy tag to make…here it is. ¬†Using my¬†Oh My Stars stencil, I inked up my tag with Versamark and added clear embossing powder. ¬†Once that was done, I used my Christmas Reindeer stencil with some silver embossing paste. Left the antlers smooth, but took my spatula and added texture to the rest of the reindeer.

The “joy” sentiment was stamped on a punched circle and added with some foam tape for more dimension. ¬†Just happened to have some seam binding the same color, so that finishes off the tag.

Imagine…without limits

Time for another Stencil Sunday project!

Would love to have you¬†join us for the challenge this month. ¬†As always, it’s an anything goes challenge that must be a mixed media piece…tags, art journal pages, home decor, etc….anything but a card. ¬†The winner will receive a $15 STAMPlorations gift certificate or 2 ARTplorations stencils. And the top picks receive an ARTplorations stencil of their choice.

This was some mixed media paper that I used to clean off my stencil from another project…it left some wonderful texture on the paper! ¬†It was covered with a layer of gesso and then I did some background stamping. ¬†Next comes some light modelling paste through my Foiled ARTplorations stencil. ¬†Why light modelling paste? ¬†I really like it as it dries quite quickly compared to some of the other pastes. ¬†Next I added some color using the direct-to-paper method with some Distress Inks and then wiped away the excess with a baby wipe.
Then comes a layer of crackle paste through my Bloom Silhouettes ARTplorations stencil. ¬†I used what I’d call a medium layer to ensure there was some cracking. Next, I dyed some seam binding with the same Distress Inks and crinkled it. ¬†Finally, I stamped the sentiment in archival ink and cut it out. ¬†
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  mixed media
Inks:  Distress Inks and Archival Inks
Stamps:  STAMPlorations Mixed Media Grunge and Imagine
All the other stuff: ¬†ARTplorations Old Rose Prints, Foiled and Bloom Silhouettes stencils, light modelling paste, spatula, Antique Silver Crackle Art Extravagance Texture Paste, seam binding, Distress Markers, Tim’s Tiny Attacher, Tim Holtz Tags & Bookplates die
