April Stencil Sunday and Mixed Media Challenge Tag

Hello!  I’m so happy to be back with another Stencil Sunday project and mixed media challenge.

Would love to have you join us for the mixed media challenge this month.  As always, it’s an anything goes challenge that must be a mixed media piece…tags, art journal pages, home decor, etc….anything but a card.  The winner will receive a $15 STAMPlorations gift certificate or 2 ARTplorations stencils. And the top picks receive an ARTplorations stencil of their choice.

The background for my tag was made with acrylic paints.  Next, I heat embossed the lovely Rose Duet stencil. I stamped one of the images from the Art Marks set with acrylic paint and cleaned off the stamp immediately. Then, using a Stabilo pencil, I added shading to the flower and around the edges of the tag.  For some added sparkle I added two sizes of glass beads with some heavy matte gel.  I finished the tag off with a bit of beading cord.

Cannot wait to see what you make!  Just a gentle reminder…this is not a card challenge…it’s anything BUT a card.  To ensure that you’re eligible for the prizes each month, simply create a mixed media project, add a link to the challenge and show the challenge graphic…it’s as easy as that!

Stencil Sunday and Mixed Media Challenge Floral Canvas

Hello!  I’m so happy to be back with another Stencil Sunday project and mixed media challenge.

Just playing and getting inky and messy here with a canvas today.  I really enjoy making canvases! This has a lot of shimmer…my camera picked up a bit here and there, but there’s much more 🙂

I started off adding some stenciling in the background with some Archival inks and both the ARTplorations Botanical Lush and Leaf Bliss stencils. Next came some layers of Silks Acrylics, gesso and spray mists.  I mixed up some soft matte gel and some LuminArte Primary Elements powder and then added it to the canvas through the Flower Burst Large stencil.  I also added a bit more randomly with my palette knife.  There’s a bit of  Stabilo pencil to add some shading here and there also.

Stencil Sunday Washed Silk Flowers

Hello, it’s time for another Stencil Sunday project and mixed media challenge.

Years ago I had a washed silk skirt and shirt so I based my project today on my memories of that. Started out with a layer of regular white gesso and when that dried, I stenciled the  Happy Flowers (Large) with clear gesso. Then I just started adding several shades of Brushos with a paint brush and added some Inka Gold highlights with my fingers.

Check out what the rest of the design team has made to inspire you right here.  Cannot wait to see what you make!  Just a gentle reminder…this is not a card challenge…it’s anything BUT a card.

Stencil Sunday Create

Hello, creative lovelies!  Time for another Stencil Sunday project!

Just some creative play here today that I’m sharing with you.  And when I say that…it’s true.  I just started mucking about with a tag, some stencils, inks etc.  You just never know what you’re going to end up with during play time *grin*.

I inked up my craft sheet with three shades of Distress Inks and spritzed it with some Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist.  Then I dragged my tag through it a few times until it was covered with color. Next, I heat set the tag and then I added some Distress Micro Glaze (it acts like a resist) through the ARTplorations Leaf Prints stencil.  Then I started adding more of the same tones of Distress Inks over top.

Then, I used the Bubbles ARTplorations stencil and repeated the process. It gives sort of a funky Bokeh effect which makes me happy!.  The edges were distressed with a distressing tool and some ink.  And the final step was to stamp the tag with STAMPlorations BOLD SENTIMENTS:  Create and add a bit of twine.

Would love to have you join us for the challenge this month.  As always, it’s an anything goes challenge that must be a mixed media piece…tags, art journal pages, home decor, etc….anything but a card.  The winner will receive a $15 STAMPlorations gift certificate or 2 ARTplorations stencils. Birds and Circles

I’m back with another Stencil Sunday project for you today.

And the top picks receive an ARTplorations stencil of their choice.

Today, I’m sharing an art journal page.  I’ve used some Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap for my background and followed with some spray inks.  Using the ARTplorations Oh My Stars stencil and a PITT artist brush, I added some stars randomly in both the green and the orange. A few dribbles of India ink came next.  Then I added some circles with black gesso and different jar lids I keep in my stash.  I added some light modelling paste through the ARTplorations Bubbles stencil.  Next I used the ARTplorations Some Birds stencil and some Dylusions paint. Then, a few dabs of the same paint also added randomly.  Then, lots of shading/highlighting with a graphite pencil and my markers. I’ve used the Subway Art Builders:  Create stamp for the sentiments.  Just stamped the large sentiment on some heavy weight paper and cut it up to use throughout the two pages.

Check out all the amazing designs from the rest of the Design Team right here!

Stencil Sunday and Mixed Media Challenge #1

Welcome to the first Stencil Sunday and Mixed Media Challenge.  I am SO excited to be part of this Design Team!  These challenges are always anything goes mixed media (not a card) using a stencil or stencils.  You’ll find the challenge and all the fabulous creations from the rest of the Design Team right here.

After applying gesso to my canvas, I adhered some designer paper to my canvas and then applied a mix of acrylic paints and fluid matte medium.  When dry, I stamped some images from the Mixed Media Grunge set  in two shades of archival inks.  Next I added some light modeling paste and inked with more archival ink.  Then I added a couple of colors of color mists.   I’ve stenciled the largest butterfly from the Flutterby stencil with some metallic gold embossing paste and added more randomly with my spatula.

And to finish it off, I added the self-adhesive letters and a wide strip of gold washi tape.
