Merry Making – Day 2

Hello again!

Another fabulous day of tutorials from the ladies over at On-Line Card Classes.  Loved Shari Carroll’s background technique, so that’s the one I went with today.

A mix of old and new products today.  I picked up this Stampendous poinsettia last week and think there are lots of ways to use it.  Today it was heat embossed in Liquid Platinum and then I added some bling from an old Stampendous Frantage Encrusted Jewel Kit.  There’s a lot of shine and shimmer that got lost in my photography, so you’ll just have to trust me on that “wink”.

I used a new bit of Tim Holtz tissue tape for the sentiment.  Love how the colors show through it!

That’s it from me for today…back soon with more my friends!

Margarita Cupcake Anyone?

Playing along with a few challenges today.

I’ve heat-embossed the cupcake in white and then added some watercoloring with Distress Ink.  For some added sparkle…some Lime Green Stickles and my usual smattering of sequins.  Simple and quick to do.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp and the cupcake is from Kanban.

Had to play along with my dear friend Loll’s brand spanking new CAS Mix Up Challenge.  She and Bonnie have come up with a new challenge near and dear to this girl’s heart 🙂  What could be better than CAS and mixed media???  My “choice” is heat embossing and an additional choice being the Stickles.

And Curtain Call has a new challenge out which inspired my lime green cupcake design.  Also, Simon Say Stamp’s latest challenge is “touchy feely”…so this works for that too with the rough texture of the Stickles on my cupcake.

You Have My Heart

Finally broke down and bought a set of Zig Clean Color real brushes!!!  Got an amazing deal on Amazon, so I’m a happy girl.  Naturally, I had to break them in today 🙂

Not much to talk about here…coloring, a strip of paper from some Amy Tangerine paper from my stash and my usual sequins.  This is a new set from Simon Says Stamp called Roses for You.

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #22

I’m back with another One Layer Christmas card challenge.  The challenges are always one layer, always anything goes. As always, the challenge is to create a one layer card only and if you use the optional twist, you’ll be entered into the monthly random drawing.  Each card = one entry, so feel free to enter often to increase your chances to win.

Here’s the theme for the challenge:

Added some Distress Inks to my watercolor paper, stamped the Sweet ‘n Sassy image and sentiment before adding some “snow” through a stencil.  Another really simple and easy design to mass produce if you’re coming down to the “crunch time” with your Christmas cards.

Check out the cards from the rest of the Design Team right here.

Addicted to Stamps and More #150

It’s a photo challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More this week:

Now isn’t that a lovely bit of inspiration…watercolor, birthday cake, flowers, ummm wine…lots to choose from!
This will be my final Addicted to Stamps and More Design Team card, as I’ve chosen to step down. So to honor the lovely Kylie, I elected to do a watercolor butterfly.  It’s been stamped with several shades of distress inks, and while it was still wet it was overstamped and then I added some Brushos.

Kylie, thank you so much for this amazing opportunity, I’ve enjoyed each and every month of the last year on the Design Team.  And speaking of the Design Team…what a wonderful bunch of sweet and VERY talented ladies to work with…lucky me 🙂

Our sponsor this week is Sweet Pea Stamps and up for grabs…four digis from their store:
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  distress watercolor and Neenah solar white
Ink:  distress and archival
Stamps:  Visible Image and Simon Says Stamp
All the other stuff:  waterbrush, Brushos, adhesives and sequins

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #8 Reminder

Just a quick reminder that there’s still time to play along with us at the One Layer Christmas card challenge:

All the challenges are “anything goes”, and require a one layer design.  And, the optional twist with this challenge is “trees”.  Using the optional twist will get you an entry into the monthly random drawing.  Every card that you enter with the twist = 1 entry into the drawing and you can enter as many times as you’d like!

And here’s my one layer design featuring trees:

I’ve opted for some soft pastels this time around and used one of my favorite techniques – a stencil monoprint.  My stencil has been inked with three shades of Distress Inks, misted with water and placed on some watercolor paper.  After stamping the sentiment, I then added the snow.  Now, I’ve taken some serious artistic liberty with this snow, but if Prince can have “Purple Rain”, then I think I can have “Lilac Snow”.  LOL

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Strathmore 140# watercolor
Ink:  Aquamarine Archival Ink and Tumbled Glass, Shabby Shutters and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks
Stamps:  Verve Merry Wishes
All the other stuff:  TCW stencil, Simon Says Stamp stencil, Liquitex Blended Fibers, spatula

Online Card Classes Stretch Your Dies Day 2

My homework for day two of the Online Card Classes Stretch Your Dies class:

This is not a CAS card by any means.  Lots of steps and lots of fun!  Kristina Werner showed us this amazing technique today with floral dies! And I couldn’t wait to play, but had something else in mind!

I’ve water colored paper with a Distress Ink and a few Brusho colors.  There are also die-cuts in craft metal, as well as the sentiment, which I’ve backed in black card stock to make it a bit more prominent.

And here’s a close-up that shows the gorgeous metal, the effect from the Brushos;  and the dimension achieved by this technique:

Seriously, if you haven’t taken any of these classes, this is a great one to start with!

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White and Strathmore 140# watercolor
Stamps:  not a one!
Ink:  Picked Raspberry Distress Ink
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Winnie & Walter Big Bang Confetti Cutaways, Winnie & Walter In a Word: Cheers Cutaways, Winnie & Walter The Party Confetti Cutaways, foam adhesive, Add a Little Dazzle craft metal in Lovely Lavender and the reverse side of the metal (silver), Brushos, Simon Says Stamp Balloon die
