You Inspire Me

July16youinspireme

My final project for the Altenew Academy One-Layer Wonders class.

The sentiment says it all.  Kelly Latevola inspired me throughout this entire class.  She taught me a lot.  And I am entirely grateful for all I’ve learned throughout the class.

This card is a combination of so many of the lessons, and while I strayed (again!) from the actual class…this is me.  I made it my own.  If there’s one thing to take away from any class…make it your own.

As always, I’m not going to provide details for how this card was made.  I appreciate the effort and expense that Altenew went to providing the class and don’t think it’s fair to share the details.

Perfectly Perfect…

July13Perfectly2

More homework for the Altenew Academy One=Layer Wonders class.

I absolutely love the Crown Blooms set from Altenew and Kelly Latevola used it for this particular lesson.  So this is a total case of how she layed out the blooms.  Thanks, Kelly 🙂

But from there, I took a hard left and went out on my own.  Totally did my own thing…mixed media.  I used pretty much everything but the kitchen sink on this.  But in the end…I’m happy with it….this feels like me.

Hello My Sweet Friend

July13hello

Totally different style of card for me today.  That’s because it’s another card for my Altenew One-Layer Wonders class.

I am totally not a precise stamper not do I always colour inside the lines…LOL.  So something graphic like this isn’t necessarily something I gravitate towards.  But, it’s part of the class, and I’ve learned something new.  That’s the whole point of taking classes…to learn, to have fun and to play…

As always I’m not sharing any details of the class.  Altenew and Kelly Latevola deserve that!

I Have Decided to be Happy

July-7-happy

More playing with Carabelle Studio stamps today.

Isn’t this a wonderful sentiment?  Wonderful advice 🙂

I stamped the right circular image in Distress Ink and misted it lightly before stamping.  The heart was stamped in the same manner.  The butterflies were watercoloured with two colours of Distress Inks and then I added some white gel pen and shadows with a Zig marker.

A little wash to ground the panel and a sprinkling of sequins completes the card.

Remake

Hellowishyouwerehere

Do you ever look at a card and think….hmmm…that could be improved?  I liked my card from yesterday.  I love my card today.

After putting down two strips of the washi tape,  I used my “hello” die, but this time, used a lightweight cardboard and cut it out three times.  The layers were glued together to give some depth to the piece.  Another change I made was to deepen the colours of the three die cut pieces…the florals and leaves.  I also added some white gel pen to the large flower.

The background was again debossed with the same plate.  The only other thing I changed was to add a “label” strip with “wish you were here”.  I like the contrast!

The other change was I finally got some photo editing software on my new iMac which makes me much happier with my photos.

Washi Hello

15E954D6-8167-47A9-BFF4-6FD6A403EE5DHello everyone!  Hope you are having a wonderful day!

This card design has been in my brain for awhile. Just needed the die.  Now that I have it…here’s the card.

The background has been debossed with the Dotted Scales debossing  plate which leaves a lovely border by using it vertically on a horizontal card.

I added two strips of the washi tape to a piece of cardstock so that I had the proper width for using the die.  Next, I watercoloured three heat embossed images from Beautiful Day.  I tried to approximate the colours in the washi with Distress Inks. They were then die cut with the matching dies .

Lots of sparkly sequins complete the card.

EDB3E6A4-4D4E-4F4A-9B42-FB13B7340F36Playing with some new toys today.  When I did my great craft room purge I sold all my Copics!  Yes, every last one of them. I just wasn’t using them and that was my criteria for purging. If it’s not being used…it gets sold.

I wanted to try a new alcohol marker…not have every colour…just a few for highlighting and shading. The Nuvo alcohol markers are very economical and I found them to blend well. I also like the feel of the barrel in my hand…very comfy.

Back to the card. I stamped the Cosmos Background in black and coloured it with the Nuvo markers..just pretty neutral colours. Next came the shine. I added Nuvo Glitter Drops to the centres. I also added some Deco Foil randomly for more bling. The sparkle is amazing. I find taking photos of shiny stuff so difficult. My picture just doesn’t do the card justice unfortunately.  Here’s a close up of some of the shimmer.
