Homework

B1CCFB8D-4C44-429C-AC66-BE6B3A391686Whew!  Some days I think I’m too old for classes…hahaha. But stretching your mind creatively is a good thing. Kelly Latevola is amazing!  Great ideas, fun and so very talented.

This was a real stretch for me as I didn’t have all the supplies and had to be creative. In the end it turned out ok. But with more practice I think I’ll improve.

Kelly’s class is over at the Altenew Academy  and is called One-Layer Wonders.   As always, I respect the company providing the classes and don’t share details. I trust you’ll understand.

And I get to check off another day of colouring. Whee!

Back soon with more my sweet friends…

This gorgeous stamp is from the Simon Says Stamp June Card Kit. So many options with this set including lots of great sentiments for many different occasions.

The image was stamped in grey and then watercoloured with three colours of Distress Inks. I added the flower centres with a white Sharpie paint pen and added highlights with a PITT Artist Big Brush.

Next came a little bit of sparkle. I adore that sweet little heart sequin!

April Mixed Media Card Challenge

It’s a day full of posts for this girl 🙂  Check out my Featured Designer post for the CAS Mix Up here. And don’t forget to check out my Guest Designer post for the Graciellie Designs blog hop here.

I’m back with another Mixed Media Card Challenge.

The challenges run from the 1st to the 25th of each month, with the winners announced on the last day of the month.  To play along, simply create a mixed media card and enter it at the Mixed Media Card Challenge.  Be sure to check out the cards from the rest of the Design Team!  So much inspiration!

New to mixed media?  Just combine two or more mediums on your card.  So many choices: watercolor, gesso, acrylics, distress inks, pencils, crayons, Copics, other inks and on and on…

And speaking of on and on…I threw everything but the kitchen sink at this and still kept it fairly CAS.  After stamping the sunshine image and sentiment in Archival Ink it was masked.  Then I stamped the brick pattern in chalk paint.  Next came coloring…Polychromos pencils and Gamsol followed by some PITT Artist Big Brushes. There’s Wink of Stella and Stickles for some added sparkle.

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White
Ink:  Jet Black Archival
Stamps:  STAMPlorations New Beginnings and Mixed Media Grunge
All the other stuff:  Polychromos pencils, Gamsol, PITT Artist Big Brushes, Wink of Stella, Stickles, Prima Chalk Paint

Can’t wait to see what you create for the challenge this month!

Dazzling Diva #71

I’m back with another Dazzling Diva Challenge and here’s our fabulous inspiration for the week:
I love the gorgeous florals on the inspiration piece and here’s where it took me:
I ended up using a piece of Golden Glimmer and marbling it with Inka Gold and PITT Artist Pen Big Brushes. You still get the gold coming through, but the marbled effect gives you yet one more option for working with the metals.
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White and Amy Tangerine Stitched
Stamps:  Altenew
Ink:  My Favorite Things Black Hybrid Ink
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Lil’ Inker Stitched Rectangles, Ellen Hutson Essentials by Julie Bold Blossom Stand-Alone, Inka Gold, PITT Artist Pen Big Brushes, sequins, adhesives and Add a Little Dazzle craft metal
Golden Glimmer Metal Sheet

There is a $15 gift certificate up for grabs.   If you use AALD craft metal you’ll receive an additional $5 in merchandise…BONUS!

Dazzling Diva #67

With the weather finally improving, spring is on my mind!  And this gorgeous inspirational picture for the Dazzling Diva challenge certainly fits the bill!

The first thing that caught my eye was the rusted watering can, then the tulips and then the gorgeous blue eggs.  And that’s where the inspiration photo took me:
I have to say, I love working with craft metal!  This time, I die cut it, embossed it and then colored it with my PITT artist big brush pens to give the illusion of a time worn patina.  I’ve also cut the watering can in a heavy black card stock and adhered it behind the metal watering can to give the illusion of a  shadow.  It was also popped it up on dimensional foam.
Did some “messy” water coloring of the tulips, added more watercolor to the background and then some splashes of the brown tint.  A simple stamped sentiment in black and for my water…sequins.
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Ranger Distress Watercolor paper, Gina K. black and Bazzill Marshmallow
Stamps:  Technique Tuesday and Avery Elle
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival and Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough, Vintage Photo and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Clearly Besotted Garden Fresh die, Ecstasy Crafts embossing folder, PITT artist big brush pens, sequins and adhesives.

Here’s a link to the craft metal I used today:
