Perfectly Perfect…

July13Perfectly2

More homework for the Altenew Academy One=Layer Wonders class.

I absolutely love the Crown Blooms set from Altenew and Kelly Latevola used it for this particular lesson.  So this is a total case of how she layed out the blooms.  Thanks, Kelly 🙂

But from there, I took a hard left and went out on my own.  Totally did my own thing…mixed media.  I used pretty much everything but the kitchen sink on this.  But in the end…I’m happy with it….this feels like me.

Life is Pretty Awesome

July5lifeis

It’s a gorgeous day here and life is pretty awesome.

Playing with some fun Carabelle Studio stamps today.  I did a wee bit of masking, but otherwise this is pretty straight forward.

The images were watercoloured with Distress Inks.  Then I added some white gel pen and some shading.  Next came some fun splashes of the Twisted Citron for some texture/interest.

30 Days of Coloring

YougotthisJune30

Happy to say I managed to complete the 30 Day Coloring Challenge from Kathy Racoosin.

My background is a mono print made with three shades of Distress Inks.  The image was then heat embossed in Liquid Platinum and watercolored using the matching Distress Inks and Distress Markers.  Next I added a layer of Prismacolor pencil and a bit of white gel pen.

Remake

Hellowishyouwerehere

Do you ever look at a card and think….hmmm…that could be improved?  I liked my card from yesterday.  I love my card today.

After putting down two strips of the washi tape,  I used my “hello” die, but this time, used a lightweight cardboard and cut it out three times.  The layers were glued together to give some depth to the piece.  Another change I made was to deepen the colours of the three die cut pieces…the florals and leaves.  I also added some white gel pen to the large flower.

The background was again debossed with the same plate.  The only other thing I changed was to add a “label” strip with “wish you were here”.  I like the contrast!

The other change was I finally got some photo editing software on my new iMac which makes me much happier with my photos.

Washi Hello

15E954D6-8167-47A9-BFF4-6FD6A403EE5DHello everyone!  Hope you are having a wonderful day!

This card design has been in my brain for awhile. Just needed the die.  Now that I have it…here’s the card.

The background has been debossed with the Dotted Scales debossing  plate which leaves a lovely border by using it vertically on a horizontal card.

I added two strips of the washi tape to a piece of cardstock so that I had the proper width for using the die.  Next, I watercoloured three heat embossed images from Beautiful Day.  I tried to approximate the colours in the washi with Distress Inks. They were then die cut with the matching dies .

Lots of sparkly sequins complete the card.

5E0A54C5-BFAD-4C1C-8AFC-0A5E4E499203Hello everyone!

I’m participating in the  Altenew Academy One-Layer Wonders class by Kelly Latevola. Kelly is funny, informative and so very talented. Even though I’ve stamped for 20+ years I’m always interested in learning something new.

And since I watercoloured this it still fits into my 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Win, win!

In keeping with my past practice, I never share details on a class as I feel it’s unfair to the company providing the instruction.

Harlequin Floral

62E62CE1-82F7-422B-BA60-578EDB5F03C5Happy to have yet another card for my stash thanks to the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.

Another Stencil Monoprint background. If you’ve never tried this technique, I did a tutorial for Splitcoaststampers

Then I heat embossed this gorgeous floral image in white. Using the same three colours of Distress Inks I watercoloured the image. This time I added some shading with a Zig Clean Color marker.

A sentiment and some little gems complete the card.
