Loll’s Tag Event

Loll's-Tag-Event

So happy to be able to make a tag for my lovely friend Loll’s annual tag event.  Each and every year she invites some friends to design a mixed media tag and then she makes a tag inspired by each one.  Here’s the link to her event:  Loll’s Twelve Tags of Christmas

When I sit down to design a card or a tag, there are very few preconceived notions as to where I’m headed.  I simply grab what I feel like working with that particular day and go with it.

The Christmas Rose Bouquet image from WPlus9 was heat embossed in gold on a black tag.  Next I used my Distress Oxides with a waterbrush to paint the image.  Once that was completely dry, I added more colour with my Polychromos pencils.

The background was a combination of a spritz of Perfect Pearls Mists in Heirloom Gold, smudges of glue stick (yes, you read that right), smudges of white ink, and smudges of Tarnished Brass Distress Crayon.

I completed the tag with a bit of gold washi tape and some gold cording.

Many thanks to Loll for putting on her fabulous event each and every year!

Back soon with more my sweet friends…

Mixed Media, Mixed Metals

Mixed-Media-Mixed-Metals

Had some fun today with my Distress Oxides and Polychromos pencils.

The Christmas Rose Bouquet image from WPlus9 was heat embossed with Liquid Platinum embossing powder.  Then, using my waterbrush and Distress Oxides I started colouring the image.  Once it was completely dry, I started adding more color with my Polychromos pencils.

More heat embossing on a piece of vellum with a sentiment from WPlus9 called Handlettered Holiday.  Then lots of bling…sequins, beads (see the center of the main flower), and some Tim Holtz Design Tape called Tidings.

Blingety, bling, bling today.  But hey, it’s a Christmas card!

Merry Making – Day 3

Merry-Making---Day-3

It’s Day 3 of the Merry Making class and again so many great ideas and tips!  I focused on a design from May Park.  It’s fun, it’s fresh and quite unique for a Christmas design.

Merry Making – Day 2

Merry-Making---Day-2

Hello again!

Another fabulous day of tutorials from the ladies over at On-Line Card Classes.  Loved Shari Carroll’s background technique, so that’s the one I went with today.

A mix of old and new products today.  I picked up this Stampendous poinsettia last week and think there are lots of ways to use it.  Today it was heat embossed in Liquid Platinum and then I added some bling from an old Stampendous Frantage Encrusted Jewel Kit.  There’s a lot of shine and shimmer that got lost in my photography, so you’ll just have to trust me on that “wink”.

I used a new bit of Tim Holtz tissue tape for the sentiment.  Love how the colors show through it!

That’s it from me for today…back soon with more my friends!

Merry Making Day 1

Merry-Making-Day-1

Hello again and thanks for joining me!

After being away from creating for so long, I felt it necessary to jump-start my mojo with another On-Line Card Class.  If you haven’t taken a class from Kristina and Jennifer, I’d highly recommend them.  Fun, creative and so many wonderful ideas!  This time round, I’m taking Merry Making…perfect for getting those Christmas cards done!

As in the past, I don’t feel it’s right to give you all the instructions for a paid class.  Kristina and Jennifer deserve all credit for the ideas.

Since I’m such a Tim Holtz fan, I will tell you this is pretty much all Tim Holtz 🙂  Distress Oxide Inks, stamps sets…new and old, the sentiment sticker and of course those awesome stars!

I’ll be back again soon with another card inspired by the classes this week.

Grateful

Grateful-card-Oct-7-2017

Whew!  This was a challenge!  I haven’t blogged, created, photographed, etc. etc. in over a year.

Welcome to my new WordPress blog.

Since it’s Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, wanted to go with that theme.

I’ve been eyeing the Distress Oxide inks, so played with those for the first time.  Love how they layer!  I used some mixed media paper and  layered the inks until I was satisfied with the colors.  Next I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves dies to make my leaves.  A little bit of Walnut Stain mixed with water was used to edge the leaves.

Using the same Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink, I stamped the background and then used a wet paintbrush to smoosh it around.  Then I added a few bits and bobs of Lucy’s Little Things in Warm Golden Golden Glow with some Multi Medium in matte.  The sentiment is from Tim Holtz Big Chat stickers.

That’s it from me for today.  Back soon with more my friends…
