Sweetest Sunshine

July17youarethesweetest

It’s a gorgeous sunny day so I wanted to make something that feels like sunshine!

I’m hung up on stencil mono print backgrounds these days.  I love the texture and the feel.  And it makes for such a quick and easy card.  Do the mono print, stamp the flowers and colour them, and add a sentiment.  And my obsession with flowers continues with this new set from Altenew which I adore!

Played with some different colours today.  Honestly, I’m not a fan of yellow, but how was I going to achieve a sunny look without it, right?

This came together in less than 15 minutes, my kind of card 🙂

You Inspire Me

July16youinspireme

My final project for the Altenew Academy One-Layer Wonders class.

The sentiment says it all.  Kelly Latevola inspired me throughout this entire class.  She taught me a lot.  And I am entirely grateful for all I’ve learned throughout the class.

This card is a combination of so many of the lessons, and while I strayed (again!) from the actual class…this is me.  I made it my own.  If there’s one thing to take away from any class…make it your own.

As always, I’m not going to provide details for how this card was made.  I appreciate the effort and expense that Altenew went to providing the class and don’t think it’s fair to share the details.

Homework

B1CCFB8D-4C44-429C-AC66-BE6B3A391686Whew!  Some days I think I’m too old for classes…hahaha. But stretching your mind creatively is a good thing. Kelly Latevola is amazing!  Great ideas, fun and so very talented.

This was a real stretch for me as I didn’t have all the supplies and had to be creative. In the end it turned out ok. But with more practice I think I’ll improve.

Kelly’s class is over at the Altenew Academy  and is called One-Layer Wonders.   As always, I respect the company providing the classes and don’t share details. I trust you’ll understand.

And I get to check off another day of colouring. Whee!

One Day at a Time

EDE84F8F-7FE6-4E37-8589-4E1FCDB15FF9Hello all!

I’m back with another card for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Pretty minimal colouring I must admit, but there is colouring.

I pulled a couple of prints for backgrounds using the Stencil Monoprint Technique with Distress Oxides.   This is the second print, as I wanted something light and airy. The first print has been saved for another card.

Next I stamped the gorgeous floral image in each corner. Then I loosely watercoloured a few of the flowers with the same inks.

I pulled out an oldie, but a goodie, sentiment stamp from Verve that I’ve used many times. I still love this stamp!

The panel was dry embossed and then I added some Deco Foil in to the centres of the flowers with a glue pen. You can see it below.

Distress Oxide XOXO

Altenew June 19:18

Upgraded to an iMac after our PC died.  Just a bit of learning curve, but happy to try my first post with it.  Same with the built in photo editing…learning curve for sure, but so happy to be using my DSLR again!

Another card for Kathy Racoosin’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge. What I’ve totally enjoyed during these last 19 days is trying different mediums and how the mojo seems to flow when you keep playing.  And if you haven’t checked out the amazing inspiration on Instagram by the other people playing along, please do!

Three shades of Distress Oxides were used to ink up the Watercolor Dots background stamp from Altenew.  Then I heat embossed three different images from their Crown Bloom stamp set.  They were then watercolored using the same three Distress Oxide inks and die cut.  Sentiment is from the Watercolor Dots set.

Water Coloured Shaker

82D3F67B-1BCB-4776-BBC0-87C748D2CE0AIt’s Day 3 of Kathy Racoosin’s 30 Day Colouring Challenge. I’ve has this card in my head for a while and decided that today was the day.

The background is stencil mono print made with Distress Oxides. I have a  tutorial  on Splitcoaststampers if you’d like to try this. It’s quick and easy.

Then I watercoloured the floral image along with some extra leaves from the same Studio Katia Set. Next they were fussy cut.

I used a Dual Stitched Rectangle Die to make my shaker card, along with some beautiful sequins.

The sentiment was added to the front of the acetate window with Stazon Ink.

Loll’s Tag Event

Loll's-Tag-Event

So happy to be able to make a tag for my lovely friend Loll’s annual tag event.  Each and every year she invites some friends to design a mixed media tag and then she makes a tag inspired by each one.  Here’s the link to her event:  Loll’s Twelve Tags of Christmas

When I sit down to design a card or a tag, there are very few preconceived notions as to where I’m headed.  I simply grab what I feel like working with that particular day and go with it.

The Christmas Rose Bouquet image from WPlus9 was heat embossed in gold on a black tag.  Next I used my Distress Oxides with a waterbrush to paint the image.  Once that was completely dry, I added more colour with my Polychromos pencils.

The background was a combination of a spritz of Perfect Pearls Mists in Heirloom Gold, smudges of glue stick (yes, you read that right), smudges of white ink, and smudges of Tarnished Brass Distress Crayon.

I completed the tag with a bit of gold washi tape and some gold cording.

Many thanks to Loll for putting on her fabulous event each and every year!
