Dazzling Diva #73

This will be our final Dazzling Diva challenge, and our theme is spring/new life:

All good things must eventually come to an end and after much consideration Monica Weaver from Add a Little Dazzle has decided to close the Dazzling Diva Challenge. The blog and boutique will continue being open offering unique creations and Add a Little Dazzle Craft Metal Sheets. I invite you to continue following the Add a Little Dazzle blog.

Many years ago, I walked into our great room and look out the window into our backyard.  Two of our large ornamental crabapple trees were covered in Monarch butterflies.  You could hardly make out the trees for the Monarchs!  It was an amazing sight, and one that I shall cherish forever.  Sadly, my camera was out of commission at the time and I have no pictures to share…but I retain that amazing scene in my memory.

So with that thought in mind, here’s my final Design Team card:

A simple design with a whole lot of butterflies 🙂  I’ve die cut the butterflies with my Tim Holtz Butterfly Frenzy die and then placed them in an embossing folder.  Instead of running them through my Big Shot Pro, I’ve just used a brayer to emboss them…works like a charm!

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Amy Tangerine Stitched and Neenah Solar White
Ink:  MFT Hybrid Black
Stamps:  My Sentiments Exactly
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, MFT Fishtail Flags Layered STAX, Lil’ Inker Designs Stitched circles die, Lil’ Inker Designs Stitched Rectangle die, Tim Holtz Butterfly Frenzy Sizzlit Decorative Strip, Ectasy Crafts embossing folder, brayer, adhesives

Dazzling Diva #71

I’m back with another Dazzling Diva Challenge and here’s our fabulous inspiration for the week:
I love the gorgeous florals on the inspiration piece and here’s where it took me:
I ended up using a piece of Golden Glimmer and marbling it with Inka Gold and PITT Artist Pen Big Brushes. You still get the gold coming through, but the marbled effect gives you yet one more option for working with the metals.
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White and Amy Tangerine Stitched
Stamps:  Altenew
Ink:  My Favorite Things Black Hybrid Ink
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Lil’ Inker Stitched Rectangles, Ellen Hutson Essentials by Julie Bold Blossom Stand-Alone, Inka Gold, PITT Artist Pen Big Brushes, sequins, adhesives and Add a Little Dazzle craft metal

Dazzling Diva #70

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for the Dazzling Diva Challenge.  Here’s a wonderful mood board that lends itself to so many interpretations:

Pretty easy to see that my focus was on the lower left corner 🙂
I’ve die cut some gray paper and added a strip of embossing paste through a stencil.  Then it’s just a matter of adding the die cuts.  When I’m working with metal, I like to adhere it to some card stock before adding it to my card…it adds some stability and makes it really easy to glue it down, even when layering.
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White and Echo Park Yours Truly
Stamps:  none
Ink:  none
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Tim Holtz Doily stencil, embossing paste, spatula, Winnie & Walter Big Bang Confetti Cutaways, Winnie & Walter In A Word Cheers Cutaway, adhesives, Elizabeth Craft Designs transparent double-sided tape and Add a Little Dazzle craft metal in the following colors:

Dazzling Diva #69 Some Bunny Loves You

I’m back with another Dazzling Diva Challenge.  Look at these cute little peeps 🙂  We are doing a color challenge this week.  Use any one or combination of the following colors on your card:

Can you tell I’m a sucker for these gorgeous stitched bunnies from Lil’ Inker?  Don’t they look wonderful in the craft metal?
I inked up my craft mat with three shades of Distress Inks and sprayed with water.  Then I dragged a piece of watercolor paper through it.  The clouds are die cut in felt and I’ve added some metallic thread behind the set of clouds.
These are stylin’ bunnies in their metal coats and little black bows!  The metal has such an impact doesn’t it?
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Strathmore 140# watercolor paper, Gina K. black card stock
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival and Rusty Hinge, Broken China and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks
Stamps:  Clearly Besotted
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Lil’ Inker Designs bunnies and bows die set, MFT die-namics cloud trio, MFT felt, metallic thread, adhesives and Add a Little Dazzle craft metals in the following colors:

Online Card Classes Stretch Your Dies Day 2

My homework for day two of the Online Card Classes Stretch Your Dies class:

This is not a CAS card by any means.  Lots of steps and lots of fun!  Kristina Werner showed us this amazing technique today with floral dies! And I couldn’t wait to play, but had something else in mind!

I’ve water colored paper with a Distress Ink and a few Brusho colors.  There are also die-cuts in craft metal, as well as the sentiment, which I’ve backed in black card stock to make it a bit more prominent.

And here’s a close-up that shows the gorgeous metal, the effect from the Brushos;  and the dimension achieved by this technique:

Seriously, if you haven’t taken any of these classes, this is a great one to start with!

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White and Strathmore 140# watercolor
Stamps:  not a one!
Ink:  Picked Raspberry Distress Ink
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Winnie & Walter Big Bang Confetti Cutaways, Winnie & Walter In a Word: Cheers Cutaways, Winnie & Walter The Party Confetti Cutaways, foam adhesive, Add a Little Dazzle craft metal in Lovely Lavender and the reverse side of the metal (silver), Brushos, Simon Says Stamp Balloon die

Mixed Media Tag

Haven’t played in a mixed media challenge in quite some time!  Saw the Mix-Ability Challenge at Splitcoaststampers this morning and decided to play.

I’ve used some techniques from Tim’s March 2015 tag, namely using his tissue tape beneath some Distress Paints.

Taking a manilla tag, I’ve added some tissue tape randomly and then smooshed it into a mix of Distress Paints.  Next it was misted with water and then I dried it with my heat tool.  Added some arrows with Ranger Archival Ink and Tim’s stencil.  Then I added a few of Tim’s Remnant Rub-Ons. See that little bird stepping from the arrows onto the star? He’s a Remnant Rub-On, as well as the birds on the wire at the top of the tag.   Then, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in gold.  It’s been surrounded by some gorgeous craft metal die cut with Tim’s Weathered Clock die.  Next, I added a few of Tim’s Mirrored Stars and finally, I hand dyed some seam binding in coordinating colors to finish off my tag.

If you haven’t played with craft metal, you are seriously missing out on some fun!  It’s easily die cut, embossed, colored and then some!  And with metallics being front and center this year…the perfect medium for your cards and other projects.

Dazzling Diva #66

Oh, we have a lovely Spring mood board to share with you today!  What fabulous inspiration for the Dazzling Diva challenge:

And here’s my take on it:
Today, I’ve provided a step-out tutorial so you can see exactly how this came together:
Step one:
Cut a card base to a finished size of 4.25″ x 5.5″
Cut the frame from the same color card stock
Step two:
Stamp raindrop image on the card front in gray
Color with a Distress Marker, paintbrush, and water
Step three:
Die cut clouds, lightning bolts, and sequins in craft metal
Die cut more sequins in vellum
Step four:
Stamp sentiment in black
Step five:
Cut front of shaker card from transparency
Adhere it to the back of  the frame
Add foam adhesive to the back of the frame
Step six:
Use temporary adhesive to keep card front from popping up
Place sequins on the middle of the card front
Step seven:
Add the metal die cuts to the front of the shaker frame with Ranger Glossy Accents.
Place the shaker frame on top of the card base, remove your temporary adhesive and done!
Here’s a close up of the sequins in the shaker card:
This metal is SO versatile…
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White and vellum
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black and Watering Can Archival
Stamps:  Designs by Ryn Hanging Droplet set, Lil’ Inker Designs (Katie Vaz) Dance in the Rain
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, MFT die-namics Stitched Rectangle frames, Lil’ Inker Cut It Out Clouds and Accessories die set, We R Memory Keepers Confetti shaped die, paint brush, Broken China Distress Marker, foam adhesive, Ranger Glossy Accents, temporary adhesive

And, of course, Add a Little Dazzle Craft metal:
