Harlequin Floral

62E62CE1-82F7-422B-BA60-578EDB5F03C5Happy to have yet another card for my stash thanks to the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.

Another Stencil Monoprint background. If you’ve never tried this technique, I did a tutorial for Splitcoaststampers

Then I heat embossed this gorgeous floral image in white. Using the same three colours of Distress Inks I watercoloured the image. This time I added some shading with a Zig Clean Color marker.

A sentiment and some little gems complete the card.

Back soon with more my sweet friends.

Paper: Neenah Solar White and Canson Bristol

Ink:  VersaMark and Distress Inks in Twisted Citron, Wilted Violet and Mermaid Lagoon

Stamps:  Studio Katia and Clearly Besotted (sentiment)

Misc:  heat tool, Brutus Monroe Alabaster embossing powder, embossing buddy, TCW Harlequin stencil, distress sprayer, paintbrush, MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangle die, Studio Katia Spring Gems and adhesives.

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge #21

I’m back with another One Layer Christmas Card Challenge.  Can you believe it’s November?  Wow! Where did the year go?  It seems the older I get, the more quickly the years go by 🙂

Here’s our theme for this challenge:

The challenges are always one layer, always anything goes and this week’s optional twist is “reindeer”. As always, the challenge is to create a one layer card only and if you use the optional twist, you’ll be entered into the monthly random drawing. Each card = one entry, so feel free to enter often to increase your chances to win.

Added some Distress Inks to my watercolor paper complete with splashes.  The rest is just simple stamping.  The Penny Black deer stamp is one I’ve had for ages…and still one of my faves!   I faded out the dots under the partial stamping of the Clearly Besotted sentiment, just as the watercolor fades to that side.  Quick and easy to duplicate if you are needing to mass produce some cards…

Mixed Media Card Challenge #17

I’m back with another Design Team card for The Mixed Media Card Challenge.   And since it’s a two-post day, I also have my STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday project to share with you here.

And here’s the theme for the month:

The challenges run from the 1st to the 25th of each month, with the winners announced on the last day of the month.  To play along, simply create a mixed media card and enter it at the Mixed Media Card Challenge.  Be sure to check out the cards from the rest of the Design Team!  So much inspiration!

New to mixed media?  Simply combine two or more mediums on your card.  So many choices: watercolor, gesso, acrylics, distress inks, pencils, crayons, Copics, other inks and on and on…

Most of my cards are created on the fly.  I grab something and play with it.  This started with three shades of Distress Inks and my ARTplorations Holly Background stencil.  Just sponged them on until I liked the result.  Hmmm, what next??? Grabbed some painter’s tape and masked off the bottom.  Then I added some pigment ink using the “direct to paper” method…not really wanting a solid look…more streaky.  The strip was heat embossed with clear ink.

OK, needed something else…let’s do a wider strip, but a lighter color at the top.  So that was done the same way.  How fortuitous that I happened to have a stamp that uses the word “family” and has some arrows on it…lucky me 🙂  And finally, I added some micro beads that I recently received from my sweet friend, Loll.  Thank you, Loll!!!

Dazzling Diva #69 Some Bunny Loves You

I’m back with another Dazzling Diva Challenge.  Look at these cute little peeps 🙂  We are doing a color challenge this week.  Use any one or combination of the following colors on your card:

Can you tell I’m a sucker for these gorgeous stitched bunnies from Lil’ Inker?  Don’t they look wonderful in the craft metal?
I inked up my craft mat with three shades of Distress Inks and sprayed with water.  Then I dragged a piece of watercolor paper through it.  The clouds are die cut in felt and I’ve added some metallic thread behind the set of clouds.
These are stylin’ bunnies in their metal coats and little black bows!  The metal has such an impact doesn’t it?
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Strathmore 140# watercolor paper, Gina K. black card stock
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival and Rusty Hinge, Broken China and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks
Stamps:  Clearly Besotted
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Lil’ Inker Designs bunnies and bows die set, MFT die-namics cloud trio, MFT felt, metallic thread, adhesives and Add a Little Dazzle craft metals in the following colors:

ATSM#138 Dotty for Bunnies

It’s time for another Addicted to Stamps and More challenge!  This week we are featuring holiday cards.

Our sponsor this week is Stitchy Bear Stamps:

Stitchy Bear has kindly offered 3 images up to $10 for the prize this week!
So of course with Easter just around the corner, had to make an Easter card right?

Not much stamping this time around.  The bunnies were die cut in small dot patterns and are dressed up with sweet little bows, some rhinestones and fluffy little cotton tails.  Some simple layering with a rectangle in large dots and an oval in a medium dot pattern.  The sentiment has been stamped on a stitched tag and I added a few more rhinestones to it too.

All in all, a quick design to make up if you’re in need of some last minute cards 🙂

Here’s What I Used:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White 120# card stock, Simple Stories Snap Color Vibe papers and MME Rosy papers
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival ink
Stamps:  Clearly Besotted
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro; Lil’ Inker Designs Stitched Rectangles, Stitched Ovals, Bunnies and Bows dies; MFT Stitched Traditional Tags die-namics, rhinestones, cotton batting, adhesives

Check out the fabulous cards from the rest of the design team!

Dazzling Diva #67

With the weather finally improving, spring is on my mind!  And this gorgeous inspirational picture for the Dazzling Diva challenge certainly fits the bill!

The first thing that caught my eye was the rusted watering can, then the tulips and then the gorgeous blue eggs.  And that’s where the inspiration photo took me:
I have to say, I love working with craft metal!  This time, I die cut it, embossed it and then colored it with my PITT artist big brush pens to give the illusion of a time worn patina.  I’ve also cut the watering can in a heavy black card stock and adhered it behind the metal watering can to give the illusion of a  shadow.  It was also popped it up on dimensional foam.
Did some “messy” water coloring of the tulips, added more watercolor to the background and then some splashes of the brown tint.  A simple stamped sentiment in black and for my water…sequins.
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Ranger Distress Watercolor paper, Gina K. black and Bazzill Marshmallow
Stamps:  Technique Tuesday and Avery Elle
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival and Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough, Vintage Photo and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Clearly Besotted Garden Fresh die, Ecstasy Crafts embossing folder, PITT artist big brush pens, sequins and adhesives.

Here’s a link to the craft metal I used today:
