EDB3E6A4-4D4E-4F4A-9B42-FB13B7340F36Playing with some new toys today.  When I did my great craft room purge I sold all my Copics!  Yes, every last one of them. I just wasn’t using them and that was my criteria for purging. If it’s not being used…it gets sold.

I wanted to try a new alcohol marker…not have every colour…just a few for highlighting and shading. The Nuvo alcohol markers are very economical and I found them to blend well. I also like the feel of the barrel in my hand…very comfy.

Back to the card. I stamped the Cosmos Background in black and coloured it with the Nuvo markers..just pretty neutral colours. Next came the shine. I added Nuvo Glitter Drops to the centres. I also added some Deco Foil randomly for more bling. The sparkle is amazing. I find taking photos of shiny stuff so difficult. My picture just doesn’t do the card justice unfortunately.  Here’s a close up of some of the shimmer.

Hello Flowers

I’m playing along with a few challenges today…just having some fun!  And yet, another layered design…hmmm…

The sketch from Cardabilities was my jumping off point for this design.  After die-cutting the rectangle from designer paper, I added the circular designs with a Copic Multiliner and a round die. Thought it would be fun to add three types of circles!  Next comes some stamped splotches in turquoise.  A die-cut vellum stem, some die cut leaves, some Prima flowers, followed by more die-cut designer paper for the stamped sentiment.  And finally, a smattering of sequins.

It’s always fun to step outside your comfort zone and just simply try different things.

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Simon Says Stamp, vellum and Prima Madelaine (in my stash forever)
Ink:  MFT Black hybrid and Avery Elle Aquamarine
Stamps:  MFT Abstract Art and Paper Smooches Fancy Frames
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Lil’ Inker Stitched Rectangles (yes, I do use those a LOT!), circle die, Essentials by Ellen Bold Blossoms die, MFT die-namics Fishtail flags, Prima Archivist flowers, sequins, adhesives, Copic Multiliner

One Layer Christmas Card Challenge Reminder – Circles

Just a quick reminder, there is still a week to get your card entered for the One Layer Christmas card challenge.  Here’s our current challenge:
Playing with one of my ARTplorations stencils this week.  Such a simple and quick card to make.
Just used some green ink with my stencil. Once that was dry, I placed the stencil back down again, offsetting it slightly and scribbled some quick circles with my Copic multi liner pen.  Stamped the sentiment, added my usual sequins and done!
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Neenah Solar White
Ink:  Avery Elle Lemon Grass, Ranger Jet Black Archival
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse Say It Out Loud Holiday
All the other stuff:  ARTplorations Christmas Trees Stencil, sponge, Copic multi liner pen, Simon Says Stamp sequins, adhesive

Dazzling Diva #67

With the weather finally improving, spring is on my mind!  And this gorgeous inspirational picture for the Dazzling Diva challenge certainly fits the bill!

The first thing that caught my eye was the rusted watering can, then the tulips and then the gorgeous blue eggs.  And that’s where the inspiration photo took me:
I have to say, I love working with craft metal!  This time, I die cut it, embossed it and then colored it with my PITT artist big brush pens to give the illusion of a time worn patina.  I’ve also cut the watering can in a heavy black card stock and adhered it behind the metal watering can to give the illusion of a  shadow.  It was also popped it up on dimensional foam.
Did some “messy” water coloring of the tulips, added more watercolor to the background and then some splashes of the brown tint.  A simple stamped sentiment in black and for my water…sequins.
Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Ranger Distress Watercolor paper, Gina K. black and Bazzill Marshmallow
Stamps:  Technique Tuesday and Avery Elle
Ink:  Ranger Jet Black Archival and Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough, Vintage Photo and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Clearly Besotted Garden Fresh die, Ecstasy Crafts embossing folder, PITT artist big brush pens, sequins and adhesives.
