Loll’s Tag Event

Loll's-Tag-Event

So happy to be able to make a tag for my lovely friend Loll’s annual tag event.  Each and every year she invites some friends to design a mixed media tag and then she makes a tag inspired by each one.  Here’s the link to her event:  Loll’s Twelve Tags of Christmas

When I sit down to design a card or a tag, there are very few preconceived notions as to where I’m headed.  I simply grab what I feel like working with that particular day and go with it.

The Christmas Rose Bouquet image from WPlus9 was heat embossed in gold on a black tag.  Next I used my Distress Oxides with a waterbrush to paint the image.  Once that was completely dry, I added more colour with my Polychromos pencils.

The background was a combination of a spritz of Perfect Pearls Mists in Heirloom Gold, smudges of glue stick (yes, you read that right), smudges of white ink, and smudges of Tarnished Brass Distress Crayon.

I completed the tag with a bit of gold washi tape and some gold cording.

Many thanks to Loll for putting on her fabulous event each and every year!

Back soon with more my sweet friends…

  1. I’m so happy Lee-Anne! This tag is gorgeous. You always inspire me with your designs and how you mix medias. I love the drama of the black tag base. Your image is so pretty and I love the softness of watercolouring with DOX inks on black … something I have not tried yet!! Perfect “smudging”. 🙂 Love your finishing touches with the gold wash and gold cording. Thanks for joining my tag event! xx

  2. OMG! Lee-Ann, your tag looks like a Renaissance painter! I love how you colored flowers and gold embossing. This is an amazing feeling when you look at your tag !!
I do not know why I do not get notifications from your blog, Lee-Ann? I joined the observers and …. silence 😦 Can you add the “Follow through email” option? Then I will definitely send all the notifications. I will be very grateful.

  3. Love seeing how the Distress Oxides turned out when you used them for painting – great soft look against the dark background. A very elegant tag with the gold!
