Brightly Lit Joy

Our inspiration for the CAS Challenge #201 comes from this photo from Pinterest:

I focused on the berries and greenery as well as the candle and made yes, yet another Christmas card!

The card is a standard 4.25″ x 5.5″ followed by the embossed layer.  The candle was made with a Dee’s Distinctively die.  I cut the main part of the die in corrugated paper.  Then,  the dripping wax area was cut in plain white card stock and covered  with Distress Stickles.  The flame was cut in white card stock and then three different colors of Stickles were used for a more realistic look.  The base of the flame has been colored with a black marker.

The Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die has a branch on it also; so that’s what I used for the greenery.  It’s similar to the Martha Stewart punch, but larger which works for this purpose.  Kraft Core Nostalgic Collection card stock was used, then it was sanded and the edges were inked with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

The berries were cut with a small circle punch and then some Stickles were added for a little more bling.  The sentiment was cut from the Tim Holtz Stacked Words: Christmas Sizzix die, in the same red card stock as the berries.

Before assembling the candle, I stamped a sun image from Taylored Expressions behind the flame…fun hmmm?  Lots of dimensionals were used to pop up various parts of the candle and the sentiment.

Here’s what I used:
Paper:  Gina K. Pure Luxury card stock, SU! Real Red, white corrugated paper and Kraft Core Nostalgic Collection card stock
Ink:  Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and Wild Honey Distress Ink
Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Sky’s the Limit
All the other stuff:  Big Shot Pro, Dee’s Distinctively Candle Set die, Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die, Tim Holtz Distressed Frame embossing Folder, Tim Holtz Stacked Words: Christmas Sizzix die, sanding block, dimensionals, Xmas Red Stickles, Orange Peel Stickles, Yellow Stickles, Clear Rock Candy Distress Stickles, SU! Basic Black marker, sponge

Have a wonderful week.  No doubt, like me, you’re down to the crunch getting ready for Christmas!  Don’t forget to take a little time for yourself…catch your breath…and enjoy the season!
